You could nominate for the Eureka Prize for Outstanding Science in Safeguarding Australia.

If you’ve done innovative work for defence technology, you could nominate for the Eureka Prize for Outstanding Science in Safeguarding Australia. The prize is sponsored by DST Group.  

It is awarded to an Australian individual, group or organisation for outstanding science or technology that has developed or has the potential to develop innovative solutions for Australia's defence or national security.

The Eureka Prizes are presented annually by the Australian Museum to recognise scientific excellence including research and innovation, leadership and commercialisation.

Previous winners have included innovative vehicle armour systems for protection against blast and ballistic threats (Defence Materials Technology Centre), emergency flotation system to recover helicopters ditched at sea (One Atmosphere) and a secure mobile communications system (Northrop Grumman M5 Network Security).  

Nominations for 2016 are now open.

Key dates for the Australian Museum Eureka Prize:

  • Entries close - Friday 6 May
  • Finalists announced - Friday 29 July
  • Award Dinner - Wednesday 31 August
