'Science of fire for Defence platforms' lecture

DST scientist Zenka Mathys will present "Safety a Burning Ambition: The Science of Fire for Defence Platforms" as part of the Engineers Australia FOCUS Lecture series.

The  lecture will be held in Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney in November 2018. More information is available on the Focus Lecture Series website.

Zenka Mathys is an internationlly renowned scientist whose advice and research has been crucial to advancements in defence platforms. Her work in the area of flammability, fire resistance and structural fire performance has led to the development of a world class modelling and analysis capability, which helps keep servicemen and women safe.

Her research has been published in various international journals, and has received a number of national and international awards, including the 2017 Minister’s Achievement Award for Achievement in Defence science.

Her presentation will highlight how her research has contributed to the increased fire safety of defence platforms including the Minehunter Class vessels; Air Warfare Destroyers; and Armidale Patrol Boats.
