General document | Symposium on Model-Based Systems Engineering Proceedings, Held 24th - 25th October 2011, DSTO Edinburgh

ABSTRACT

The International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) have stated that "...the future of systems engineering can be said to be model-based" in their vision for 2020. Within Australia, model-based systems engineering (MBSE) is emerging on a greater number of projects and across a broader range of organisations. This evidence suggests that there is an increasing appreciation of the benefits that MBSE affords a project. With the centre of MBSE knowledge in America and Europe, Australia has limited exposure to advances and expertise in this field.

The aim of this symposium is to bring together researchers and practitioners to present their experiences, developments and wisdom in the field of MBSE. The 16 presenters from DSTO, industry and academia covered a range of topics including MBSE approaches, tools, and its application in the defence context.
