Experimental Plan for the Development of Equivalent Crack Size Distributions and a Monte Carlo Model of Fatigue in Low and High-kt Specimens of Corroded AA7050-T7451

A Monte Carlo model will then be used to test if the low-kt ECS distribution can accurately predict the fatigue lives of the high-kt specimens. If successful, this will allow low-kt ECS distributions, which are easier to derive, to be used under high-kt conditions.

Generating Correlated Gamma Sequences for Sea-Clutter

This report presents a hybrid method for simulating sequences of correlated Gamma random variables for modelling sea clutter, using a combination of linear and/or nonlinear transforms.

Characterisation of a Cell Culture System for Investigating Nerve Agent Neurotoxicology (Part I)

Neuroblastoma cell lines NB41A3 and SH-SY5Y were evaluated as an in vitro model system for studying organophosphorus (OP) chemical toxicity in central nervous system (CNS) cell lineages.

Preventing and Profiling Malicious Insider Attacks

This report examines previous research on malicious insiders with particular emphasis on the social and psychological factors that may have influenced the attacker and their behaviours. This research also draws on corresponding studies into fraud and espionage in non IT scenarios. A range of preventative measures is presented that approach the problem from personnel, policy and technical perspectives.

ForceViewer: A Starting Point Force Tool

This document outlines the work done in developing ForceViewer, a tool that assists in producing a Starting Point Force. The document outlines the requirements for the tool, the tool itself and the structure of its code. The prototype tool graphically shows the Starting Point Force in any chosen year. The tool allows for interactive changes to the force and displays the impact on the overall capability. The force is composed of the current assets, the Defence Capability Plan projects and any interim endorsed capability additions. The purpose of the tool is to quickly determine and display the list of all major elements of the force structure in a chosen year.

Net Warrior D10 Technology Report: Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) and Data Link Nodes

This report discusses the Air Operations Division contribution to the Net Warrior demonstration event NW-D10. NW-D10 was held in September 2010 and demonstrated information interoperability of middleware technologies in dynamic environments with real mission systems. An overview of the NW-D10 event is provided along with a discussion of the technologies demonstrated. The outcomes of NW-D10 are presented and future Net Warrior events and enabling research are outlined.

F-111 Adhesive Bonded Repair Assessment Program (FABRAP) - Phase I Testing, Preliminary Results

The F-111 Adhesive Bonded Repair Assessment Program (FABRAP) was created to generate statistically valid data regarding the efficacy of the tap-test as a non-destructive-inspection technique and the environmental durability of adhesive bonds. In FABRAP Phase I Testing, over 300 repairs were tap tested and 820 residual strength tests conducted using a pneumatic adhesion tensile testing instrument. This report details the FABRAP process and summarises the results from the Phase I testing.

Strong Magnetic Field Characterisation

Three magnetic field sources were characterised. The sources are needed experiments investigating interactions between hot gases from a detonation and the magnetic field.

Distance Discrimination Thresholds During Flight Simulation in a Maritime Environment

The experiment described in this paper was conducted to test if perceptual limitations were the reason for poor performance in the DSTO AOSC Maritime Hover trial.

Integrated Navigation, Guidance, and Control of Missile Systems: 2-D Dynamic Models

The models developed here are suitable for both conventional and more advanced optimal intelligent guidance, particularly those based on the 'game theory' guidance techniques.
