The cover of a scientific report
Our scientific output includes report literature

Our scientific and technical publications are an important vehicle for the dissemination of our work.

We have several goals for our publications:

  • To communicate the results of the research program to clients and fulfil our reporting responsibilities to the Department of Defence.
  • To record the results of our research program.
  • To communicate the results of scientific research and technical information to Australian industry and academia.
  • To increase awareness of and enhance the reputation of DST Group.

This report describes the design of the ORBAT Data Service and how it is used to manage and share ORBAT data between tools such as ViPA.
Technical report

This report presents a new approach for biofouling prevention, in which a UV light emitting layer is applied on exposed underwater surfaces for the inhibition of settling organisms.

This report presents algorithms that can be utilized in a GPS receiver to convert satellite-to-receiver pseudo-ranges to receiver position estimates. The report discusses a method that is used to determine instantaneous estimates of receiver position and then goes on to develop three Kalman filter based estimators, which use stationary receiver, low dynamics, and high dynamics models for the receiver motion, respectively.

Using a custom-written FORTRAN computer program, interfaced with an existing two-dimensional boundary element fracture analysis code, the present report provides an extensive set of Beta factor solutions covering a wide range of hole offsets and crack lengths. This work has also led to the derivation of an improved closed-form analytical two-dimensional Beta factor solution for the related case of symmetrical cracks emanating from a central hole in a finite-width strip.

This report supports Defence outcomes by providing an up to date anthropometric dataset that is representative of Australian Army personnel. This will allow assessments to be made of the performance of existing and new soldier systems in terms of fit, clearance,  each, vision and posture.

This report contains reviews of software tools, developed by allied countries, that support analysis of Army readiness and sustainability.
Technical report
Technical report
This report presents a comprehensive work domain analysis—or structural description—of Australia’s Air Combat Capability, defined across multiple levels of abstraction and decomposition, and independent of specific platforms.
Technical report
Technical report
This report examines the research conducted on 7050-T7451 and how corrosion pitting could influence the fatigue life of components in RAAF aircraft manufactured from this alloy. The report shows that corrosion pitting causes not only a reduction in time to failure at a certain stress but also up to a 50% reduction in the fatigue threshold.
