Transonic Wind Tunnel

The Transonic Wind Tunnel is used to study high-speed aerodynamic flows around aircraft and to investigate how these flows interact with the stores and other attachments carried and released from the wings and fuselage.

Water Tunnel

The DSTG Water Tunnel is a closed circuit facility, with a free water surface in the horizontal test-section.

Young Australian scientist cracks international award

Dr Chris Wallbrink, research scientist with DSTO, has won the 2013 Jaap Schijve Award for outstanding contribution to the scientific advancement of managing fatigue and damage tolerance in aircraft.
DSTO's Dr Chris Wallbrink is the first Australian to receive the international Jaap Schijve award for young aeronautical engineers.
