DSTG has a purpose-equipped laboratory for investigations into Defence uses of rubber.

The Transonic Wind Tunnel is used to study high-speed aerodynamic flows around aircraft and to investigate how these flows interact with the stores and other attachments carried and released from the wings and fuselage.

The Underwater Acoustic Scattering Laboratory (UASL) is used to undertake research on various aspects of sound scattering from underwater objects such as submarines, surface ships, rocks and bubble clouds.
