Brad Baker

Brad Baker knows an army marches on its stomach.

Australian Defence Force (ADF) members perform a wide range of physically and cognitively demanding tasks during field training and deployment, and nutritional intake is a fundamental aspect in how they perform physiologically, physically and cognitively. Brad blends sports nutrition science with military nutrition science to feed the ADF and best meet their nutritional requirements. As part of this work, he also researches new strategies that help ADF members best meet their nutritional requirements for the unique situations they encounter.

Drawing from his studies in nutrition and dietetics at the University of Queensland, Brad has returned to Tasmania to work with DSTG in Scottsdale, where he oversees the nutritional needs of ADF members across various environments—land, sea, and air.

Feed your future, and your performance

As a qualified Dietitian, his input to catering and combat rations helps ensure ADF members receive highly nutritious foods that will help them perform at their best during demanding training and operations.

Whether it's optimising protein intake for muscle recovery and growth, ensuring sufficient carbohydrates levels to fuel and refuel the body for long and demanding physical activity, or incorporating caffeine to enhance concentration for high-intensity roles like fast jet pilots, Brad's aim is to support peak performance in every situation.
